POSITION TITLE: Senior Chemist CLASSIFICATION: Non-ExemptPROGRAM AREA: NSFST: Shanghai TestingGROUP: Chemistry and Engineering LaboratoryREPORTS TO: Site Manager - ShanghaiBASIC PURPOSE: Work on new method development include but not limited to sample preparation, instrumental analyses,and report generation. Be the contact person to solve technical issues within lab. Work closely with HQ team to get fully compliance with company requirement. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Good understanding of all chromatographic instruments and Mass Spec instruments. Hands on experience on most common types of instrument in analytical lab. Provide technical support/solutions to other laboratory personnel for instrumental analyses relating to dietary supplement program (i.e. vitamins, minerals, botanicals, sugar, etc.). Perform wet chemical analyses (moisture, titrations, fat etc.) for food and related samples.Develop new methods per program requirement and monitor the quality of data for new programPerform all applicable corporate and laboratory quality control procedures.Meet turnaround time commitments and make suggestions to increase efficiency.Assist and coordinate outsourcing of samples to contract laboratories as warranted by the required analyses of the site. May hold responsibilities in the area of informatics support.Participate in being cross-trained with other laboratory staff in order to alleviate the workload in key laboratory areas when high sample volumes are experienced.Prepare all records (data, notebooks, and instrument books) in a timely, thorough, and neat manner.Assure adherence to all safety and health policies and procedures.Perform other duties as requested.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in Chemistry or other related science fieldExperienced with general laboratory instrumentation and procedures.Good written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in Mandarin, proficient in English.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master or above Degree is preferred in chemistry or food science or pharmacetical in a related field and 7+ years of laboratory experience in a related field.Ability to solve complex sample separation problem by using different instrumentsGood organization skills and a strong ability to take direction from multiple sources.Experience in sample preparation techniques relating to complex sample matrix.Direct/Coach the junior chemists in lab to develop team technical capabilitiesKnowledge and experience with laboratory QA/QC plans and procedures.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Light physical effort required (ability to lift and empty solvent or reagent containers or move 2 to 5 kilograms from one area to another).Standing for long periods of time is necessary periodically.Working with various organic solvents, chemical analytes, reagents, acids, and bases is necessary.Safety glasses must be worn at all times in lab areas.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed in a laboratory environment.Fast paced, hands on work environment.Smoke free work environment. 职能类别：化学分析测试员
