We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Oncology Biomarker Development (OBD) department to implement and execute on biomarker and / or companion diagnostic-related studies.
We are looking for a Senior Molecular Pathologist with a strong background in life sciences to manage multiple aspects of our Departmental activities based in Shanghai.
The ideal candidate will be dynamic, have exceptional communication and organizational skills, ability to navigate complex organizations across geographies, be highly efficient and strive for results. The incumbent will manage multiple internal and external initiatives related to understanding biomarkers in the context of tissue related research programs in oncology.
In this role you are expected to:
Participate in service responsibilities (eligibility screening for clinical trials, prevalence analysis, organ histology)
Participate in tissue-related research programs
Establish, validate and QC tissue based assay (systems)
Establish tissue processing and work flows according to GLP, GCP standards
Establish digital pathology work flow and network with global sites
Facilitate the transfer of molecular assays to external partners, including training, continuous QC and oversight of these partners
Establish and run small scale pilot assays/assay systems to enable genomic and genetic
Maintain records of all tests performed and data collected and assist in compilation, tabulation, and analysis of data.
Train technicians and lab personnel
actively pursue project-related research activities in global project teams and to interact closely with other technology centers
The successful candidate will report into the OBD leadership team.
Qualifications (Who you are)
M.D. or M.D./ Ph.D. degree, ideally a board certification in (Anatomical/ Surgical) Pathology with 5 years of experience in anatomical and surgical pathology with main focus on oncological diseases (at academia)
Extensive knowledge in molecular pathology, digital pathology and assay (IHC/ISH) development, strong diagnostic skills and strong research interest
Background in life sciences desired, e.g. bachelor degree in molecular biology
Understanding of GLP and ICH-GCP requirements and how to work with material from clinical trials
Experience with lab management system (LIMS systems) as a senior pathologist either in academia or the corporate setting
Experience and willingness to work on project management, logistics, data and quality management
Experience in leading laboratories and teams in general
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluent in spoken and written in English. Knowledge of Chinese culture and language would be an asset
Team-oriented, flexible and innovative mindset and used to work independently and across geographies and cultures
