DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team focusing on drug discovery, translational research, and early development of novel small or large molecule drug candidates in Shanghai, China. This person is expected to take responsibilities in immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay development and execution, to provide histo-pathology support to biomarker research and joint projects with drug discovery, translational research, and early development teams. The successful candidate should have a well-established track record in Bio-medical research, ideally working experience in pathology platform of pharmaceutical R&D or CRO. Good communication skills in both English and Chinese, as well as an ability to interact with collaboration partners both internally and externally.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
A thorough understanding of immunohistochemistry and histo-pathology
An ability to independently generate precise, reliable data and skillfully analyze and interpret it
Hands-on experience in preparation, fixation, embedding, sectioning of FFPE samples, and IHC assay execution, data capture is a must
Hands-on experience in developing, validating and executing common oncology/immunology biomarker IHC assays independently is an advantage
Experience with pathological quantitation and scoring is a strong plus
Experience with fluorescent staining, FISH, ViewRNA on clinical samples is a strong plus
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Routine characterization of cellular, pre-clinical, clinical samples with established biomarker assays, eg. IHC, WB etc.
Develop, optimize, validate, trouble shoot and execute IHC and other histo-pathology assays
Integrate appropriate automated devices to improve assay throughput and robustness
The successful candidate is expected to analyze, interpret and report experimental results independently
The successful candidate may be actively engaged in participating and evaluating progress in collaborative programs with external partners. Experience in collaborative research would be desirable
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have a Master/PhD/MD degree in medicine, biology, pathology or a related field, preferably experience in pre-clinical drug discovery or translational research in a pharmaceutical setting or other relevant healthcare industry.
A thorough understanding and experience in cancer biology is a plus.
Hands on experience with cutting edge cellular and molecular technologies related to Oncology biomarker research would be a clear advantage.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment.
Good written and oral communication skill in both English and Chinese
