RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES (Essential Functions)
Shape the environment to support innovation and access and advance patient care through leading team in development and execution of integrated public affairs plans
? Collaborate with the LT, global & regional C&PA, and Market Access & Government Affairs colleagues to identify and prioritize medium- and longer-term policy issues and opportunities related to our Asia Pacific business
? Build understanding of current issues in the environment affecting businesses and brands; in partnership with CPA colleagues, develop and execute public affairs strategies that inform and shape belief, action, behavior and advocacy to shape the external environment
? Model and inspire integration of knowledge from deep external and internal networks; multi-stakeholder insights; broad understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities; and collaboration across Enterprise to shape integrated public affairs plans that leverage full range of channels, including media relations, advocacy and industry relations, lobbying, paid media, patient engagement, and employee activation, to educate policymakers and drive decisions that advance patient care and enable innovation.
? Lead team to proactively shape environment by identifying and applying key outcomes metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that drive confidence, integration and alignment. Model close partnership with Strategy & Insights CoE in developing metrics and assessing impact
? Maintain deep understanding of current policy issues affecting Enterprise, businesses and brands; anticipate and guide team in addressing emerging market and internal realities
? Build relationships with and act as liaison to key third-party influencers and external constituencies involved in shaping dialogue on policy issues, including trade associations and coalitions
? Ensure public affairs plans leverage competitive advantage of a single-Enterprise set of strategic priorities, and actively encourage best practice sharing between markets
? Guide team in effectively managing agencies
? Oversee budgets with the highest degree of fiscal prudence and responsibility
? Develop relationships with top media, including key social media influencers, and serve as chief media spokesperson on Asia Pacific pharmaceutical policy issues
Enhance and protect Enterprise reputation and influence in policy arena
? Develop and guide implementation of executive leadership and engagement in the policy arena, positioning senior leaders, Janssen and J&J as thought leaders on key issues with key decision makers and influencers
? Develop and strengthen relationships with and serve as trusted advisor to LT members
? Maintain stakeholder trust by ensuring that team proactively identifies potential issues, and oversee development of strong issues-management strategies
? Ensure excellence in management of policy issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation
? Partner closely with global Janssen communication, Media Relations, Workforce Communication, Strategy & Insights and other CoEs to ensure Enterprise alignment
? Serve as spokesperson for top-tier, complex media inquiries
Build employee engagement and advocacy by helping employees understand the impact of policies on innovation, access, and patient care
? Serve as a change champion for innovation and new ways of operating
? Oversee development and implementation of internal communication strategy and messages that inform and engage employees on key policy issues
? Partner closely with CPA colleagues, Public Affairs CoE, Workforce Communication CoE, HR, and others to ensure integrated, seamless integration Enterprise communication

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Education and/or additional training: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, marketing, liberal arts, science or business.
Experience and functional competencies:
? Proven performer with at least 8 years of experience managing public affairs in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency; proven track record of successful public affairs achievements
? Demonstrated ability to develop compelling stories, with superior written, oral and visual communication abilities
? Can write and present clearly and persuasively in English
? Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams
? Demonstrated ability to build deep, authentic relationships and strong influence with senior internal and external stakeholders
? Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships with top executives
? Extensive experience in crisis/issues management
? Extensive experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media
? Strong understanding of digital and social platforms
? Outstanding strategic thinking and analytical ability
? Extensive experience in managing budgets and resource allocation across large critical projects
? Exercise a high level of independent judgment even in challenging, complex situations
? Ability to stay aligned with overall strategic direction while applying diligence and attention to detail to execution while reliably meeting deadlines
